To sing in the coir, should I be able to read music?

Not necessarily: being able to read a music sheet is very useful, but the Director provides recordings for each voice. This is a useful support in self study and review.

Are the weekly rehearsals enough to prepare for singing?

The weekly rehearsal is fundamental; in addition, self study of the own part is necessary to increase confidence.
